Ranking inputs (weights withheld)

Per Goodhart's Law we publish what feeds the ranking, not the weights. The weights are auditable internally and adjusted with documented changelog entries.

  • metrics.clickCountNumber of outbound clicks to the tool (last 90 days, exponential decay)
  • metrics.viewCountDetail-page views (last 90 days, lower weight than clicks)
  • createdAtFreshness signal — newer tools get a short-lived boost
  • editorialScoreManual 0-100 quality rating by ToolDecker editors (content depth, pricing clarity, docs quality)

How we earn money

Affiliate commissions are our only revenue. The Visit button uses an affiliate URL when available, otherwise a direct URL.

Affiliate links never affect ranking, featured status, category placement, or editorial copy — they only change the destination URL.

Per FTC § 16 CFR 255 every affiliate link is disclosed inline with #affiliate-link or in the page footer.

What we refuse

  • Paid placement on the homepage or category pages.
  • Paid edits to editorial copy, scoring, or category assignment.
  • Reciprocal link exchanges, sponsored reviews, or 'pay to be featured' offers.
  • Removing legitimate reviews, FAQs, or comparison rows in exchange for compensation.
